A Note From Jack
I am so excited to share my new novel “Poppy: A Novel About A Colorful Colorado Life” with you. Two years in the making, “Poppy” imaginatively highlights the unique life of my grandfather which spanned the worlds of indigenous art, southwestern exploration and the War in the Pacific. This book would not have been possible without the generous support of the good people at the Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen, the Denver Art Museum, the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, and the Logan Museum of Anthropology in Beloit.
Special thanks to Candy Porter for her research assistance and for her unwavering support and friendship, as well as to former Hiwan historians John Steinle and Meghan McGinnis for their invaluable help in recording oral histories of Douglas family members.
